There is Hope for You Still

If you have periodontal disease and have undergone treatment, you know how serious gum disease can be. If left untreated, gum disease will not only lead to devastating tooth and bone loss but the infection can spread to other parts of your body as well. Gum disease has been linked to other serious health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes and some forms of cancer. If you have undergone treatment for periodontal disease without experiencing an improvement in your condition, there is hope for you with osseous surgery.

Eliminate Bacteria, Reduce Inflammation and Save Your Teeth with Osseous Surgery.

Gum Surgery with Dr. Selma Kaplan

Osseous surgery, or flap surgery, is a gum surgery that aims at stopping the vicious cycle of bacteria-growing pockets that surround your teeth. Your gums are sufficiently numb for this procedure to ensure your comfort during your appointment. The gums are gently pulled back to allow access to the roots of your teeth. Bacteria and tartar are removed from above and below your gum line and the roots of your teeth are smoothed with a planing procedure to encourage reattachment of healthy tissue, thus reducing pocket depths. Your gums are gently put back in placed and secured with tiny sutures.
